Natural History: Indigo Hamlets are found individually or in pairs, on reef faces and slopes. Adults have been regularly observed feeding on blue chromis on reefs. Juveniles feed mainly on crustaceans.
Husbandry: They are aggressive as adults and only one indigo hamlet should be kept per aquarium, unless the aquarium is very large. This species feeds on primarily on small fish so it should not be housed with fish smaller than it. A varied diet is required to maintain the fish's striking colors. Suitable hiding places should be provided to allow it take refuge easily.
